Tourist information website, VisitSouthampton.co.uk, has been given a brand new look to help entice more people towards Southampton’s visitor hotspots.
Travellers into the city will now be able to build their own bespoke trip plans by favouriting events and listing deals and offers from local businesses. There will also be improved search functionality and an improved digital map to help visitors navigate the city centre more easily.
Cruise passengers will get access to their own special hub where they can see all the best places to enjoy while in Southampton at-a-glance. Plus, corporates who list their businesses or events on the website will be able to change or update information much more easily.
The brand new website was designed in collaboration with Southampton City Council, Southampton Forward and the city’s Business Improvement District (BID) GO! Southampton, and built by Simpleview, a global market leader in destination websites including VisitLasVegas.com and Destination Queenstown. The revamped Visit Southampton website officially launched on 3rd July and was funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund as part of the government’s central mission to level up the whole of the UK.
Executive Director of GO! Southampton Stephen Manion said: “This new website is a key part of our strategy to raise Southampton’s profile nationally and internationally. By working with Simpleview, we’re bringing global best practice in destination marketing right here in our city. It will help us to drive footfall, support local businesses and put Southampton firmly on the map.”
Councillor Lorna Fielker, Leader of Southampton City Council said: “There’s so much to experience in Southampton and we want visitors to be able to uncover as much as they can. This is much more than just a website – it’s a tool for both visitors and locals to get the most out of the city.”
