Southampton's Business Improvement District, GO! Southampton, has secured a national accreditation for a further three years, recognising consistent and collaborative approach to tackling crime and anti-social behaviour in the city centre.

The Southampton Business Crime Partnership (SBCP), which is run by GO! Southampton, has secured its national accreditation from the National Association of Business Crime Partnerships (NABCP) for its third accreditation cycle until 2029.

SBCP brings together local businesses, security teams, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary and Southampton City Council to reduce retail crime, shoplifting and anti-social behaviour across the city centre.

Through the partnership, businesses can access a range of practical support including the DISC intelligence-sharing platform, in-person assistance from a dedicated security team and a radio network connecting businesses with each other and the citywide CCTV control room which all drives coordinated action to identify and manage prolific offenders.

The DISC platform has over 400 users and exceeded 7,000 logins in the last 30 days*, with engagement at an all-time high at over 70%. Last year the SBCP security team recovered nearly £60,000 worth of stock, and over 1,640 incidents were processed on DISC.

Achieving NABCP accreditation since 2021 underlines the strength of the partnership and demonstrates an ongoing commitment to creating a safer city centre for businesses, residents and visitors.

The accreditation is perfectly timed to mark the second annual national Business Crime Reduction Partnership (BCRP) Awareness Week – taking place from 16 March – when the SBCP security team will be working additional hours across the city centre.

Operations Manager Jade McCauley and SBCP lead Stuart Jackson will also be visiting local businesses to highlight the support available, including the DISC and the radio network, which allows businesses to share intelligence and respond quickly to incidents.

Jade McCauley said: “Having this national accreditation for five years and securing a further three is a real testament to the hard work of everyone involved in the partnership. Business crime and anti-social behaviour can have a significant impact on both businesses and visitors to the city centre, and this accreditation reflects the strength of what we’ve built together. BCRP Awareness Week is a great opportunity to build on that momentum and encourage even more businesses to get involved.”

Sophie Jordan, CEO at the NABCP said: “This BCRP National Standards Accreditation Renewal highlights several areas of outstanding best practice, including a clear and consistent traffic‑light process for assessing incidents, an impressive online training hub offering over 200 free courses, and high‑quality intelligence briefings that keep businesses well informed.

“Their strong collaboration with partners, demonstrated through initiatives such as Operation Defender, ShopKind, and Safer Business Action Days, shows a real commitment to supporting both the day‑time and night‑time economies.

“By openly sharing KPIs with members, the team demonstrates transparency, impact, and strong engagement across their services.

“The team at GO! Southampton should be incredibly proud. This is an excellent achievement and a solid foundation for continued success.”

Amanda Mulholland from Police Crime Prevention Initiatives (CPI) said: “Many congratulations to the GO! Southampton Business Improvement District on their accreditation. Achieving this is a significant challenge for any crime reduction partnership, and their success shows a strong commitment to creating safer environments for customers and staff. Their work not only improves safety but also boosts the commercial prospects for local businesses.”

GO! Southampton is encouraging all city centre businesses to engage with the partnership, make use of the available crime reporting tools, and speak with the team during BCRP Awareness Week to find out how they can benefit.
