Southampton’s residents and visitors are being encouraged to enjoy some of the city’s best loved gems this September.
The ‘Love the Old Town’ campaign, organised by the city’s Business Improvement District, GO! Southampton, returns for another year celebrating everything that makes Southampton’s Old Town such a unique and vibrant place to visit.
From 1st – 30th September, visitors can enjoy special giveaways, exclusive offers and unmissable events while being immersed in centuries-old history.
Home to Southampton’s medieval city walls and waterfront, the Old Town has a vibrant mix of independent restaurants, global cuisines, live music venues, arts and culture, and centuries of heritage.
Highlights include 20% off tickets at The 1865 throughout September, 10% off when you spend £5 or more at E&J Oriental/Go Oriental, 20% off bookings at 1st Base, 20% off general admission at High Score Arcade, a free tower ticket with every café purchase at Gods House Tower as well as several social media giveaways.
Love the Old Town will also include major city events, including Music in the City, the Southampton Boat Show and Cocktail Week. The city is also pleased to hold the ATCM Purple Flag status for a third year running. This award showcases that our evening and night-time economy has a vibrant and exciting offer for all ages, as well as having the measures in place to make it safe and well-managed.
A brand-new Old Town guide has been created making it easy for visitors to plan a day exploring the area. Some residents will receive the guide via post whilst everyone else can pick one up at key attractions and hotspots including the train station, Burlington House, Marlands Information Desk, Bluestar Hub, Seacity Museum, Red Funnel and the city centre hotels. You can see a digital version here.
Stephen Manion, Executive Director at GO! Southampton, said: “Old Town is one of Southampton’s most treasured areas rich in history, culture, food, and entertainment. Our ‘Love the Old Town’ campaign is a reminder for both locals and visitors of just how much there is to enjoy right on their doorstep.”
Hannah Preston, Venue Manager from God’s House Tower said: “We’re very proud to be based within the Old Town – it’s a beautiful area close to the water that’s so often overlooked. I’m looking forward to seeing the area come to life in September.”
