GO! Southampton has recently joined forces with the So SO Show podcast to help promote levy paying businesses, BID-led events and the wider city centre to listeners.

GO! Southampton, the city’s Business Improvement District, is now the headline sponsor of the show, under the consumer Visit Southampton brand, allowing the BID to work with the producers on the content included on weekly episodes.

The show, hosted by Zoe Hanson and Simon Clarke, began during the first lockdown in March 2020 as a way to shine a positive spotlight on all the things happening in Southampton, including new businesses that have emerged from the pandemic. Over 80 episodes have been aired and are available to listen to via Spotify, Apple and on the So SO Show website.

The BID will have the opportunity to connect BID member businesses with the podcast hosts as well as promote upcoming BID initiatives, projects and events. This partnership will also increase awareness of the Visit Southampton channels and encourage listeners to visit the website.

Giles Semper, Executive Director said: “The So SO Show is one of the great things that has emerged as a result of the pandemic and it made perfect sense to us to marry up the podcast and our Visit Southampton consumer brand. This is a great opportunity for our businesses to be promoted through a different and increasingly popular medium and for some positively to be shone in the city.”

Zoe Hanson, host of the podcast said, “The So SO Show podcast Partnering with Visit Southampton is a marriage made in….Southampton! We’re all about the wonderful things going on in the city and talk to the characters to find out more about the stunning events and happenings. We love being a positive beacon for Southampton with parallel values to Visit Southampton, we’re looking forward to creating brilliant things in the city.”

The Visit Southampton website launched in 2019 as a joint project between GO! Southampton and Southampton City Council and positions itself as the official destination website for the city as well as the ‘go-to’ place for What’s On listings.
