Southampton is thrilled to announce the launch of its new seasonal destination campaign, Winter in the City, in partnership with Southampton Forward and GO! Southampton.
The campaign will showcase the incredible range of events, attractions, experiences and local offers taking place across Southampton throughout Autumn and Winter, including Halloween and seasonal festivities.
As the colder months approach, Winter in the City invites residents and visitors to discover why Southampton is THE place to be this winter season. From spooky Halloween happenings to festive celebrations, the campaign highlights the city’s unique charm and rich cultural offerings that bring the community together and attract visitors from near and far.

The Winter in the City campaign will feature prominently across Southampton’s outdoor advertising screens, the council’s social media platforms, and e-bulletins —ensuring everyone stays up to date with the latest events and activities. The campaign will also have a dedicated webpage on the Visit Southampton website, where visitors can plan their days. Whether you’re looking for family-friendly fun, seasonal shopping, or immersive cultural experiences, Southampton has it all.
This campaign is a key part of our collective ambition to position Southampton as a destination city on the global stage, strengthening the city’s profile as a vibrant, welcoming, and dynamic place to live, work, and visit.
Stephen Manion, Executive Director at GO! Southampton, the city’s Business Improvement District said: “GO! are pleased to support Winter in the City and we encourage residents and visitors to spend this wonderful time of year in our great city, enjoying hugely popular shows in the theatre, blockbuster films in the cinema or having fun in one of our many exciting experiences. Follow our Snow Windows trail to discover quirky shops, lively restaurants and family friendly attractions. Pick up a Christmas guide and discover what’s right here in the city centre.”
Councillor Alex Winning, Leader of Southampton City Council, said: “We are proud to launch Winter in the City as a celebration of everything that makes Southampton special during the autumn and winter months. Our Summer in the City campaign was a huge success and created a recognisable string of events that kept the city buzzing throughout the Summer months. Together with Southampton Forward as the lead on tourism, we want to highlight the fantastic events and experiences our city offers, reinforcing Southampton’s status as a must-visit destination this season. This forms part of the work of the Destination Management Partnership (DMP) which is collaborating to improve the visitor experience and grow the visitor economy. The DMP includes Southampton Football Club, GO! Southampton, Carnival UK, ABP, Southampton Hoteliers Association, Southampton Solent University, University of Southampton, South Western Railway, Blue Star Buses, Red Funnel, Westquay, British Marine, Mayflower Theatre and Southampton Airport alongside the Council and may others. We are proud to be working together to put Southampton on the map.”
Claire Whitaker, CEO, Southampton Forward, the city’s lead on coordinating Tourism activity in the city, said: “We are really pleased to see the launch of the city’s next seasonal campaign, building on the Summer Campaign and the highly successful Jane Austen 250 campaign which saw Southampton identified in the New York Times as part of Jane Austen’s England programme. It capitalised on the new Visit Southampton website that we drove and developed in partnership with GO! Southampton and the Council. There is so much that Southampton has to celebrate in the city.”
