Get ready to jingle all the way into the festive season with GO! Southampton’s spectacular Countdown to Christmas programme of events! There’s more to do than ever before with not just an evening’s worth of fun but activities spread across four days. And the best part is, it’s all free.
The festive fun begins in a month’s time on Thursday, 16th of November with three hours of unmissable entertainment from 4pm. Christmas characters will parade the streets and city-goers will be treated to music from a variety of local acts before the city’s Christmas lights are switched on.
It will also see the opening of the much-loved Christmas market running 16th November – 2nd January, organised by S&D Leisure.
The main stage, which will see a host of performances will be back again promising an array of free events and entertainment.
Stephen Manion, Executive Director at GO! Southampton said: “These events and Southampton ‘s Christmas offering is always so popular we wanted to do even more.”
“We’re hoping that by doing four days of events it means everyone will get the chance to get involved in some festive fun.”
Events, live music and activities will take place across the city centre- from Oxford Street to Guildhall Square with plenty to do for families and children.
Friday, November 17th, will keep the festive vibes going from 4 pm to 7 pm. And the weekend? It’s a full-blown celebration! Saturday, November 18th, will treat you to family-friendly fun from 12 pm to 7 pm, and Sunday will continue the merriment from 12 pm to 5 pm.
Stephen Manion continued: “We can’t wait to reveal the full programme as we’re very excited for our Christmas offering. It’s always a highlight in the city centre calendar.”
Some of the city’s attractions and businesses will also be hosting activities, including God’s House Tower and Southampton City Art Gallery.
Leader of the Council, Councillor Satvir Kaur said: “We’re delighted to be supporting GO! Southampton’s events. Having a brilliant Christmas offering not only makes for a fabulous festive season out with friends and family but also highlights our city’s high street, boosting trade in local shops, bars and restaurants.”
