Mayflower Theatre is the largest theatre on the South Coast with 2,271 seats in the auditorium. The Theatre’s aim is to bring a diverse range of shows to Southampton. We present a mixture of spectacular touring productions, from musicals to dance, opera, drama, ballet and comedy.
MAST Mayflower Studios is a cultural and community hub. We present family shows, dance, musicals, music, comedy, circus, cabaret, spoken word, and visual arts. We put participation at the heart of everything we do.
Both the Theatre and Studios operate under the Mayflower brand. Collectively we provide Inspiring Experiences to all who engage with each venue.
The role of Housekeeper is key to the smooth running of all aspects of cleaning operation in the theatres
Job purpose
To support the Cleaning Team Leader in the smooth running of all aspects of cleaning and recycling across the business, ensuring that all cleaning aspects of the building are delivered to the highest standard.
Main duties and responsibilities:
- Responsible for safe and efficient operation and use of cleaning equipment and consumables, giving due attention to safety requirements.
- To provide cleaning services as required in the theatre and office buildings.
- Monitor and report stock levels as required.
- Participate in operational and green team meetings and other meetings as required.
- Communicate with all other key personnel across the business to ensure all cleaning aspects of activities are carried out effectively.
- Contribute as required to the achievement of the department business plan.
- Follow housekeeping procedures within all areas of the business, ensuring the highest standards are constantly maintained.
- Report (and where required) action any health and safety issues that arise from cleaning activities ensuring a safe working environment is maintained at all times.
- Follow the department health and safety policy and safe and efficient systems of working.
- Assist with training and development of new team members.
- To work together with other members of staff in the event of an emergency.
- Any other reasonable duties as requested
Our ideal applicant will:
- Have experience in cleaning in commercial premises.
- Have good communication skills.
- Be a good team player.
How to apply:
The role will be offered at £12 per hour with an average of 20 hours per week, hours of work will be varied including unsociable hours and weekends, so flexibility is essential. This role is physically demanding and will involve lots of stairs.
