Southampton Water Activities Centre – powered by Active Nation (a registered charity with a simple cause led mission of inspiring the nation to improve their health and wellbeing) is a premier watersports centre on the heart of England’s south-coast.

The popular and highly regarded RYA Training Centre delivers well established Sailing, Powerboating, Windsurfing and Paddleboard training., in addition to a range of shore-based courses, residential school trips and corporate events.

We’re looking for an experienced RYA Chief Instructor who is an enthusiastic people leader to drive forward the centre ensuring that customers receive a high level of tuition through delivery of a diverse portfolio of experiences. You will be responsible for the operational and commercial performance of the centre – via a venue leadership team and a centralised sales and marketing team.​

Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Exceptional organisational and time management skills
Problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound decisions
Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
Proficient in using computer software and systems

Qualifications and Experience

RYA Senior Dinghy Instructor wit advanced endorsement (essential)
RYA Powerboat Instructor (essential)
At least one RYA shore-based Instructor qualification (essential)
5 years + experience in an RYA centre management position (essential)
Intermediate or advanced Powerboat Instructor (desirable)
Powerboat Level 2/Advanced Powerboat with commercial endorsement (desirable)

We’d love to hear about:

Your previous leadership experience, preferably in the watersports training industry
Your experience as, or dedication to become, an RYA Coach Assessor and/or Powerboat Trainer and your history of teaching core RYA disciplines​
Your proven track record of delivering high operational standards​
