Centre Manager [Part-Time] - UK Shaolin Centre
The UK Shaolin Centre in Southampton is a hub for traditional Shaolin culture, martial arts, and
mindfulness practices. We offer a range of classes and workshops that promote physical
well-being, mental clarity, and spiritual growth. As a centre dedicated to the values of discipline,
respect, and community, we are looking for a dedicated individual to join our team as a Part-Time Centre Manager.
Role Overview:
The Centre Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the UK Shaolin Centre.
This includes overseeing the centre’s administrative functions, managing staff and volunteers,
ensuring the smooth running of classes and events, and maintaining a welcoming environment
for all members and visitors. The ideal candidate will be organised, proactive, and passionate
about fostering a positive community atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities:
● Oversee daily operations of the centre, ensuring all activities run smoothly and efficiently.
● Manage the centre’s schedule, including classes, workshops, and events.
● Coordinate with instructors, staff, and volunteers to ensure all roles are filled and duties
are performed.
● Handle inquiries, bookings, and membership management, providing excellent customer
service.
● Maintain the cleanliness and safety of the centre, ensuring all facilities are in good
working order.
● Assist in promoting the centre’s activities through social media, newsletters, and local
outreach.
● Develop and implement strategies to increase membership and community engagement.
● Manage the centre’s budget, including handling payments, invoicing, and financial
reporting.
● Liaise with local community groups, businesses, and schools to build partnerships and
expand the centre’s reach.
Requirements:
● Previous experience in a managerial or administrative role, preferably within a
community or fitness centre.
● Strong organisational and multitasking skills.
● Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
● Proficiency in using office software, including MS Office and scheduling tools.
● Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
● Interest or experience in martial arts, mindfulness practices, or community-focused
activities is highly desirable.
● Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends as required.
