Mayflower Studios is a cultural and community hub. We present family shows, dance, musicals, music, comedy, circus, cabaret, spoken word, and visual arts. We put participation at the heart of everything we do.

Mayflower Theatre is the largest theatre on the South Coast with 2,271 seats in the auditorium. The Theatre’s aim is to bring a diverse range of shows to Southampton. We present a mixture of spectacular touring productions, from musicals to dance, opera, drama, ballet and comedy.

Both the Theatre and Studios operate under the Mayflower brand. Collectively we provide Inspiring Experiences to all who engage with each venue.

Deputy Facilities and Security Manager

Responsible for MAST Mayflower Studios venue; facilities, operational health and safety relating to the facilities team and contractors working onsite. Line management of the security and reception team along with the facilities team. Responding efficiently to maintenance requests throughout the building, planning/liaising for statutory inspections/remedial works, and supervising/sign-off of all contracted works on site.

Reporting to the Facilities and Security Manager, located at Mayflower Theatre. You will be responsible for the day-to-day organising and re-active/proactive maintenance and security requirements throughout the venue. Ensuring you are paying particular attention to Mayflower health and safety policies & procedures.

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Manage the onsite team including; Facilities Technician and Reception & Security team
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements of the building and oversee effective delivery of the health and safety policies in reporting teams
  • Manage building security
  • Support the Facilities Technician in resolving building issues, taking a proactive approach and assisting in general building, mechanical and electrical repairs where required
  • Take the lead on the delivery of a planned preventative maintenance (PPM) programme and ensure this is delivered in a responsible, cost effective and timely manner
  • Identify opportunities to improve the environmental sustainability of MAST facilities.

Our ideal applicant will:

  • Have experience of managing a team of building and facilities staff
  • Have experience of managing the security of a building
  • Have a good understanding of H&S/HSE regulations
  • Have the ability to plan and oversee projects
  • Be able to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders

The role will be offered based permanent contract, 37.5 hours per week (5/7 days). There will be some evening and weekend working so flexibility is essential.

Salary up to £30,000pa.
