About the role

You will be supporting the delivery of youth work to young people, aged 11 to 25 years, who identify as LGBTQ+, or who are questioning their sexuality and / or gender identity, across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. The role will involve supporting the delivery of youth groups (Basingstoke on Monday evenings and Marchwood on Tuesday evenings), one-to-one work, residentials, community events and LGBTQ+ Awareness sessions – and providing cover for annual leave, sickness and training.

Working closely with the Lead Youth Worker to ensure young people have the best experience, stay safe and receive high quality support.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with young people who identify as LGBTQ+ (or questioning) and it is also a great opportunity to learn about youth work and develop skills in this area.

The successful candidate will have some experience of working with young people, with lived experience of the LGBTQ+ Community (either as a member of the community or an ally) who is passionate about delivering high quality services and experiences to young people.

We are committed to making a difference to the lives of the children and young people we work with, and as such you must show a willingness to demonstrate commitment to the values and behaviours which flow from the Breakout Youth ethos. Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people is paramount.
