Southampton’s food and drink outlets are continuing to entice customers with discounts throughout September, with several businesses offering up to 50% off following August’s government-backed Eat Out To Help Out scheme.
Eat Out To Help Out, which accounted for 100million covers nationally, allowed customers to save up to £10pp Monday to Wednesday throughout August, with Southampton’s offers promoted via a dedicated webpage on visitsouthampton.co.uk.
The Government-funded scheme may have ended, but many Southampton businesses have continued to offer similar deals to incentivise people to eat out in the city during September.
Following the popularity of its Eat Out To Help Out page, Visit Southampton has published a new page outlining the restaurants, pubs and cafes that are running an extended offer.
Visit Southampton is the official destination website for the city, providing information and inspiration for visitors and residents alike, and is managed and operated by Southampton’s Business Improvement District (BID) GO! Southampton, in partnership with Southampton City Council. In the month of August, the site enjoyed a 100,000 increase in page views year on year, driven by both its promotion of local Eat Out To Help Out offers and the city’s We’ve Missed You SO Much marketing campaign, which is welcoming people back to Southampton safely.
Giles Semper, Executive Director at GO! Southampton, said: “The Covid-19 pandemic has put huge pressure on hospitality businesses in Southampton and the Eat Out To Help Out scheme was vital to help encourage people to start dining out again. We applaud those who are now being proactive and effectively extending their offers into September, which we hope will have a positive impact on trading, and we‘re pleased to promote these continued discounts via our Visit Southampton channels.”
